I tried the new peg/ribaviran treatment and it almost killed
me.
I
kept telling the doctors something was wrong and they just
patted my arm and said your liver enzymes are looking great.
Well things weren't so great. I started the treatment in
Nov. 2001 and did ok until New Years eve. I had the usual
side effects i.e. blurred vision, brain fog, headaches,
nausea, joint pain, blurred vision.
Then
in Feb. 2003 I woke up and couldn't talk right. I called
all the Doc's that were seeing me and told them on the phone
I was stopping the treatment if I had to do it myself. Well
I ended up in the hospital that day with severe Hypokalemia
and couldn't even feel the needles being out into my body.
It was like the Pink Floyd song comfortably numb and that
I was.
I was kept 3 days and given potassium IV and pills. Then
released. Five days later I was back in the hospital with
the beginning stages of Chemical Meningitis. I was paralyzed
on my left side from my head to my toes and part of my right
side in my hand. Couldn't hardly talk at all, had tremors.
They said my body had become toxic from the interferon/ribaviran
treatment and if I would have taken one more week I would
have had full Blown meningitis. Well I was in for 5 days
that time. and then at the end of May I went back in again
because my body was still so toxic. I know have weakness
on my left and right side, central nervous system damage,
speech and memory problems, tremors severely and have to
use a walker just to get around.
I
have been told I am now presently disabled for the rest
of my life. I was a healthy 44 yr old woman before this.
My enzymes were not that bad when I started treatment
ALT 75 AST 80 and viral load of 450,000. I also lost
my gall bladder during this treatment it quit functioning.

I
will never work again and am in constant pain from head
to toe. I have an appointment with a Toxicologists next
week and they are going to run some scans to show where
the brain damage occurred. And try to help me from having
another attack. It just wasn't worth all this. I thought
I had a good doctor but I guess but I found out I didn't.
There
is more to this I have found about 18 or more people that
have had the same problems. And have talked to many on the
phone. People that had bleeding behind their eyes and are
almost totally blind and alot of people like me that was
diagnosed with Aseptic Meningitis. If you know of others

My lawyers are going to start a major class action suit
against SPG and all of the people that have written to gave
me permission to send to my lawyers. They are all going
