Hi,
Just a quick question and comment. I have read some of the
messages and I notice a few people have said they will not
have a liver biopsy. Why?
I know why I will not have another
one; I almost died from it. I almost bled to death.
The nurses would not listen to me when I told them that I
did not feel right, my blood pressure dropped and the doctor
never came to see me before they pretty much pushed me out
the door to go home and die.
My husband rushed me back to the hospital where they put
me in the waiting room for a few more hours (this after I
had told them that I had been there earlier for a biopsy and
was having some problems). Well to make a long story short,
I almost died and had to have emergency surgery and was in
intensive care for about a week. I also received some blood
transfusions and frozen plazma.
I am researching now on what to do for myself as far as the
disease goes. I do take milk thistle and some other herbs
and I also drink a combination tea. I would like to try some
of the items that you suggest but I need some more info.
I am 40 years old and I have a 5 year old son that I need
to be here for. When I spoke with my doctor some time ago
about alternative medicine and eating organic, he basically
told me that I read too much and that these things are not
known to be helpful. I am not the "normal" person
that would accept this answer and so I have not been back
to him. I would like to find a doctor that will encourage
me to read and be part of my treatment but I do believe that
this is probably close to impossible.
I agree with the messages that say that it's all about the
money and not the people, I have some examples of this myself.
When it was time for my son to get his vaccinations to start
school I asked what vaccinations he needed, they said that
one of them was the MMR. Well, I asked if I could get these
separately and they said, no, they do not offer it separately.
I called Merke and they said that they do have these vaccinations
separate but they could not sell them to me. In the meantime,
I also found out that my son did not need all three vaccinations
anyway, that he only needed the measles by law. So, I called
my son's doctor and asked him about this and he said that
unfortunatey this is correct and because he does not own the
practice he has no say on this and that it all comes down
to economics. He encouraged me to find a doctor that could
offer the measles vaccination alone and I did. This is unbelievable,
the well being of my child or how much money someone can save
or make! I wish more people knew what I have learned and would
start asking questions and standing up and not relying on
doctors for everything. I am willing to go to any lengths
to inform the public, I just don't know where to start. I
think someone needs to do something, but what do you do?!
Sorry I have taken up so much of your time but I could probably
go on and on, don't worry, I won't. Looking forward to hearing
from you soon.
Thanks for listening,
K.
Hi K:
There are a few reasons I do not recommend liver biopsy.
The first one is because of the many stories just like yours
and worse and even death
1 in 3000 die of complications of
liver biopsy.
The second is that it is not necessary in nearly every case.
Blood tests and ultra sound offer enough info to duplicate
biopsy at a fraction of the cost.
Biopsy is required for interferon
prescription. That is what they want it for and most every
doctor will go the extra mile to get his $10,000 for each
new prescription he writes for Peg Intron
(see
New York Times, June 27, 2004)
If you provide me with a blood test, etc. I am happy to help
with suggestions.
In good health
Lloyd
