Good Liver Recipe
July 23, 2003

Hi Lloyd,

I found this awesome recipe and had to share it with you. Please feel free
to pass it on to anyone you know who has Hep C.

As I'm sure you know, beets are extremely good for the liver. I don't care
for beets, except I do like beet juice. Plain beet juice was okay, but never
thrilled me, then I tried the following recipe. This stuff is delicious! I make it every weekend and it is my after exercise "tonic." I am going to try the same recipe with Stevia to cut out the sugar. I'll let you know how that turns out. The ingredients seem strange, but MAN when you make this stuff it's great! You will need about 16 beets for the full recipe.

Beet Lemonade
Yields: 1 1/2 quarts
2 cups water
1 cup sugar
1 tablespoon chopped lemon zest
4 whole cloves
1/2 teaspoon salt
3/4 cup fresh lemon juice
4 cups fresh beet juice
8 large mint leaves
Mint sprigs and thinly sliced lemon (garnish)

Over moderate heat add water, sugar, zest, cloves and salt together in a small saucepan and bring to a simmer. Cook for 23 minutes or until sugar is completely dissolved. Cool and add lemon and beet juice along with the mint leaves.

Refrigerate for at least 1 hour. Strain and serve in tall glasses with ice cubes and garnished with a mint sprig and a lemon slice in each glass.

Your fan,
K. W.
