TOKYO — Researchers at the University of
Tokyo have verified for the first time that hepatitis
C is prone to inducing the most common type of
diabetes. Epidemiological studies had suggested
a causal link in humans between hepatitis C, caused
by a virus, and type-2 diabetes, often triggered
by obesity or overeating.
Kazuhiko Koike, a professor in the University
of Tokyo's Faculty of Medicine, who together with
others conducted the experiments, said humans
are also thought to be subject to a similar condition
and urged hepatitis C patients take extra caution
in their diets. (Kyodo News)
I wonder what took them so long. I published
this info in 1999.
I have read about this in Liver text books that
were published in 1994.
Modern medicine is really on top of something.
